Hii, thanks for reading! If you like being here, click the ❤️ button to send some love (and let me know I’m not writing into The Void). This is a community, so please share any thoughts in the comments, and if you’d like to contribute as a guest, I’d be thrilled to hear your ideas.
Most of us will spend at least 12 years of our lives in school. As a young adult navigating this very large and confusing world, here are some things that I think would have been way more useful to learn than, for example, Calculus or the Krebbs Cycle (seriously, this is dedicated to anyone who has also been personally victimized by the Krebbs Cycle..and for what?!).
In no particular order:
how to use chopsticks
how to find the TV remote
the courage to tell your hairdresser they’ve done a terrible job
how to politely leave a terrible conversation
taxes
fitted sheets (???)
tasteful pattern clashing
flattering selfie angles
how to decipher a knock as UPS delivery vs. serial killer
how to subtly tell someone they’ve got something in their teeth
choreography to uniformly break into song and dance, á là High School Musical
tech savvy to set smart, protected passwords (and not…like…Dolphinluvr123!)
how to French braid
how make a fire out of rocks and sticks
how to floss*
the perfect pasta carbonara recipe
how to tell your crush you
(are in love with?)like them
I also would have appreciated a crash course in etiquette for texting your coworkers, a complete history of Beyoncé’s musical career and contemporary influence on pop culture, and a seminar on Trigonometry of the Perfect Winged Eyeliner. (Will my right and left eyes ever match?! Not without this seminar…)
Xoxo and HAGS,
Eden
*Not the dance move — like, literal flossing. I feel like our education system, and dentists, have failed us here.
It wasn't a struggle to access your post or whatever you call it, this time! Yea!
